Halo Microelectronics Co. Ltd. (Shanghai, China) has introduced two fast-charging PMICs with a dual-phase, switched-capacitor architecture, for single-cell battery applications.

The HL7138 and HL7139 offer peak charging efficiencies of 98.1 percent in a small PCB footprint – up to 30 percent smaller than competitors, the company claims.

The part has a 3V to 11.7V operational input voltage and a 5.5V maximum output voltage. The parts have a selectable switching frequency from 500kHz to 1.6MHz. The parts come in a 36-bump WLCSP measuring 2.65mm by 2.61mm.

“Fast charging is one of the few features that consumers can directly relate to and understand its benefits. Halo Microelectronics has seen switched capacitor-based fast-charging architectures quickly extend from high-end to mid-level smartphones,” said David Nam, CEO of Halo Microelectronics, in a statement.
