The latest report, “5G Device Ecosystem – End-September 2021” show 158 vendors have now announced available or forthcoming 5G devices across 22 different form factors. Devices recorded by GSA include over 500 5G phones and 188 FWA CPE devices. Among the 1060 announced 5G devices, 724 of them support C-Band band n78.
There are 22 different form factors for the 1060 announced devices, including regional variants, but excluding operator-branded devices that are essentially rebadged versions of other phones, with 704 that are understood to be commercially available:
There are 523 phones (up 45 from August), at least 459 of which are now commercially available (up 35 in a month) as well as 188 FWA CPE devices (indoor and outdoor), at least of which 89 are now commercially available and 138 modules.
Among the devices are 23 tablets, 19 laptops and 11 in-vehicle routers/modems/hotspots. There are also 34 other devices including drones, head-mounted displays, robots, TVs, cameras, femtocells/small cells, repeaters, vehicle OBUs, a snap-on dongle/adapter, a switch, a vending machine and an encoder.
Over half, 588, have support for 5G standalone in sub-6 GHz bands, 410 of which are commercially available.
“5G network deployments and device launches are progressing at a rapid pace as the technology continues to grow its footprint globally,” said Joe Barrett, President of the Global mobile Suppliers Association. “This milestone of reaching the 1000th device indicates both the progress of next generation networks but also, through the diverse range of available form factors, the huge potential that 5G has across a wide range of use cases.”
