ASML warns of product delivery delays after fire at supplier
The fire started at about 4am on the morning of Saturday December 1, and destroyed part of Prodrive’s production capacity and some inventories.
Local media reported that an explosion was heard and that a fire spread to several floors of the building and that parts of the building have collapsed.
ASML did not say whether the expected product delivery delays were specific to particular machines or models. The company did say it expects no effect to its 2018 shipments. ASML added that for 2019 it is working with its network of suppliers to secure alternative sources of components and materials.
Prodrive said a significant part of the inventory stored in the affected building has been retrieved and that is investigating the usability of these goods. Prodrive added that activity continues at its other buildings on the Eindhoven campus and at its foreign subsidiaries.
ASML commented that it will take several weeks to complete a detailed assessment of the impact.
“Fortunately, no persons were injured in this incident. We wish the management and employees of Prodrive all the best with their recovery process and will support them where we can,” said Peter Wennink, CEO of ASML, in a statement.
Prodrive supports numerous clients with customer-specific and off-the-shelf power modules and systems and embedded computing and automation systems for such sectors as as energy and infrastructure, automotive, industrial, medical and semiconductors.
