Nokia gets Broadcom’s help with ReefShark chips
Nokia said it intends to expand its silicon capabilities and improve the penetration of ReefShark solutions in to its own AirScale radio access portfolio. The chipsets developed with Broadcom are expected to provide higher performance and reduced energy consumption for 5G networks.
Nokia introduced ReefShark chips in 2018 At the time these included: a digital front-end for LTE and 5G supporting scalable MIMO antennas; an RFIC and transceiver for basestation front-end processing and beamforming; an integrated transceiver for mMIMO, LTE and 5G; and a ReefShark baseband processor system-on-chip (SoC).
Nokia did not explain how the work with Broadcom would extend or improve the established chipsets or how the work would fit in with previously announced collaborations with Intel and Marvell
