Renesas, OmniVision unveil reference design for automotive camera system
Renesas and OmniVision Technologies Inc, have introduced an integrated reference design for a high-definition automotive camera system. It is based on Renesas' recently introduced Automotive HD Link (AHL) technology, which transmits high-definition video signals over low-cost cables and connectors. The design's AHL components are used in conjunction with OmniVision's 1.3MP OX01F10 SoC. This is said to offer the industry's best imaging performance in a wide range of challenging lighting conditions, as well as the most compact form factor and lowest power consumption.

Renesas' RAA279971 AHL encoder and RAA279972 decoder use a modulated analogue signal to transmit the video. This allows ten times lower transmission rates than digital transmission of HD signals. Thanks to the lower transmission rate, unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables and low-cost standard connectors can be used as well as conventional analogue video cables and connectors.

AHL可以与其他瑞萨产品相结合,例如R-Car汽车SoC,RH850 MCU,汽车PMICS和模拟组件,以便在几乎任何车辆中成本有效地实现许多安全功能。

OmniVision's OX01F10 SoC integrates a high-performance 3.0-micron image sensor and advanced image signal processor (ISP) with OmniVision's PureCelPlus technology for low noise. The SoC thus promises to solve the challenges of automotive rear-view cameras and surround-view systems. It offers a small form factor with high performance in challenging lighting conditions, ultra-low power consumption and reduced cost while increasing reliability. The key to combining all these features is that the reference design presented provides for a single printed PCB.
