Siemens set to buy EDA firm Solido
Siemens is set to add Solido Design Automation Inc., a vendor of variation-aware design characterization software to an EDA portfolio that it opened with the acquisition of Mentor Graphics Corp.

The terms of the deal, which is expected to close in early December 2017, were not disclosed.

Solido was founded in 2005 and has less than 200 employees, according to a LinkedIn entry. However, its machine learning-based products are currently at over 40 major companies, enabling them to design, verify, and manufacture competitive products.

"With the acquisition of Mentor we made a large commitment to EDA," saidTony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO of Siemens PLM Software. "This new acquisition of Solido strengthens that presence and demonstrates our commitment to serving our customers in the IC industry."

Ravi Subramanian, vice president and general manager of Mentor's IC verification solutions division, said: "Solido joins Mentor at an exciting time. Having a power house like Siemens entering EDA is proving to be a true game changer for us."
