Nanjing SemiDrive Technology Ltd. (Nanjing, China) has introduced the E3 series of ARM-based automotive microcontrollers.

These are aimed at drive-by-wire chassis, brake control, BMS, ADAS/autonomous driving motion control, LCD instrumentation, HUD, streaming media vision system.

The E3 series complement SemiDrive’s established chips; the X9 cockpit controller, the V9 ADAS and autonomous driving processor and the G9 multi-domain interconnected vehicle gateway and security chip (seeChina’s SemiDrive launches automotive cockpit chipset).

The E3 series products are based on ARM Cortex-R5F with a clock frequency of up to 800MHz. The E3 has up to six CPU cores, of which four cores can be configured as dual-core lockstep or independent operation. The chips are intended to address high-end and high-safety-level automotive MCU market. Before the official launch, nearly 20 customers designed products based on E3 in advance.

Safe and secure

Qiu Yujing (Maggie Qiu), CEO and co-founder of SemiDrive, said: “We have completed the ISO26262 ASIL D-level functional safety certification from the very first moment of establishment. Subsequently, we have obtained AEC-Q100 reliability certification and ISO26262 functional safety certification. Product certification and national secret certification, it has become the first ‘four-in-one’ automotive chip company in China.”

The E3 range comprises the E3600/3400/3200 series, E3300 series and E3100 series. The E3 microcontrollers are available as samples and development boards with mass production due in 3Q22.
